SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, provides oversight and maintenance in a general student computer laboratory. Assists students with software/hardware use. Assists in network service calls throughout campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees one or more computer laboratories
  • Performs computer maintenance on laboratory computers.
  • Assists students with the use of software/hardware.
  • Performs data entry on local database.
  • Supervises work study assistants.
  • May assist with network service calls throughout campus.
  • Troubleshoots problems as necessary.
  • Attends training sessions as requested.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities assigned. Additional related education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of a variety of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
  • Ability to install and configure computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Ability to diagnose and rectify a variety of computer hardware and software problems.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and problem resolution to end users.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of students/staff in a diverse community.
  • Supervisory skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work may involve limited exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
