SUMMARY: The Scholarships for Education and Economic Development (SEED) program at Kentucky State University is seeking a dynamic SEED program Assistant to form part of the SEED team for the successful implementation of a two-year international scholarship program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs clerical activities such as the creation of data bases and record-keeping.
- Organizes the SEED medical insurance program.
- Assists in the implementation of the day-to-day activities and coordination of the SEED program with other departments at Kentucky State University.
- Works closely with students from Mexico, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua and must serve as a trustful contact for them.
- Attends weekly meetings with SEED staff and scholars and provides input into program activities and helps to coordinate and organize program events.
- Demonstrates a desire to work with and empower students from Latin American and Caribbean cultures and backgrounds and to work with young people of all ethnicities and is committed to celebrating differences and diversity among people.
- Other related duties as required.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- A four-year degree and at least three years experience working in an office setting or in a related field preferred
- Extensive computer experience required, particularly with Microsoft Office and in the creation of databases
- Experience and/or desire to work with and empower students from Latin American and Caribbean cultures and backgrounds and to work with young people of all ethnicities
- Commitment to tolerance of and receptiveness to differences and diversity among people
- Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with the SEED team
- Strong verbal and written skills in English
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
- Bilingual (French/English or Spanish/English) preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited physical effort required.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
