Under limited supervision, the Manager of Repair & Maintenance Operations oversees the overall campus repair and maintenance operations; provides skilled services and supervision of repairs and maintenance operations as required; and advises and provides administrative direction for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and access control.


  • Supervises and evaluates skilled trades personnel; assigns work orders and routine maintenance tasks; assigns and/or supervises equipment projects and repairs; meets established quality and time schedules
  • Performs general repairs and maintenance services
  • Monitors the status of projects and pending problems; exercises good judgment and problem resolution; shifts workloads based on priority demands
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements an accounting system for facility services trades
  • Provides advice regarding the operation of facility services and related issues
  • Requisitions materials and equipment
  • Provides information, resolves problems and advises customers on products and/or services, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Organizes workloads to ensure deadlines are met: schedules work assignments in order of priority and date received
  • Maintains records of employees, operations, equipment and vendor activities related to special projects
  • Ensures adherence to University and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in development, implementation ad maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and-long term planning; develops and implements projects and programs to ensure accomplishment of established department goals
  • Verifies and recommends approval of invoices for payment
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned


Bachelor’s degree in related field; 3 years experience in the duties and responsibilities specified is recommended.


  • Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, electronic access & security, carpentry, painting swimming pool and general maintenance procedures
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques

  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, snow/ice, rain, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting pushing or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds or standing, walking, bending, and/or climbing for more than 4 hours per day.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
