Welcome to Kentucky State University's GeoSpatial Education and Analysis Program.  Our goal is to provide the most up to date and comprehensive education in the concepts, design, implementation and integration of geographic information systems. 

The program, funded by a USDA Capacity Building Grant, has already provided KSU with a state of the technology GIS training and analysis lab. 15 high end, dual lcd monitor workstations on a gigabit network with a central GIS data server that allows near instantaneous use and sharing of the public GIS resources of Kentucky.  These facilities will be used by students for classroom and individual project work, by faculty to develop curricula for their classes and by the agricultural research and extension staff to support their activities. 

Our one primary belief, reflected in our logo is that the most important base layer in the application of GIS is a well trained staff.  This training will initially include one for degree course (Aquaculture 480/580 pending final approval of the Senate) in the fall of 2006, seminars and workshops for on-campus staff and faculty and ESRI Authorized training as part of our support of GIS in both the public and private sectors.  Our program manager, Ken Bates, has over 20 years of experience in GIS and over 10 years experience as an ESRI Authorized Instructor.
